Life in West Berkeley

Having skipped breakfast & lunch, by 2 o'clock I was ravenous. Ravenous, but lazy. I walked the few blocks from my house to San Pablo Avenue's first block in West Berkeley. In the length of a short block, one can eat Mexican (2), Indian (2) Nepali, Middle Eastern, pizza, or Jamaican food, have a deli sandwich, or have a pastry & coffee at the wonderful new "Local 1, 2, 3 Cafe." Additionally, there's an old-fashioned style coffee & donut shop owned & run by a Vietnamese (!) family. I opted for the Nepali....which actually is a combination of North Indian & Nepali cooking...and had one of my favorites, their chicken wrap, with an icy cold pint of Flying Horse. The other incentive here is that the manager, Prativa is a beautiful woman. Since business was slow, I was able to chat her up as I enjoyed my wrap. Walking home, it looked as if Acme Bar might be shuttered. Or, are they just closed on Monday's?
